This paper examines two universities as contrasting sites of lifelong learning: Central Queensland University as an Australian regional university; and the Universidad Central de Venezuela as that country's oldest university. The comparison reveals different but increasing pressures on both institutions, yet also identifies respective places for nourishment for lifelong learning.
