Verb sequences - or multi-verb constructions-in their various guises are a promi?nent feature of many Transeurasian languages, spanning Turkic, Mongolic, Tungus?ic, Japonic, and Koreanic families (as defined by Robbeets, this volume, and Johan?son & Robbeets 2009). The status of verb sequences varies. A verb-verb sequence may form two predicates and thus represent two clauses. Or it can be monoclausal, forming one predicate and describing what can be conceived as a single happening. Multiclausal sequences can be distinguished from monoclausal ones based on a variety of tests, including accentual properties.
