This chapter provides a review of conservation auctions that have been held in Australia between 2001 and 2012. A brief review of the underlying theory is provided, followed by an overview of the use of conservation tenders to protect biodiversity in Australia. This is followed with an assessment of their design and performance, together with an evaluation of the key insights that have been generated.
