The potential for market mechanisms to achieve vegetation protection in the desert uplands

chapter
posted on 2017-12-06, 00:00 authored by John RolfeJohn Rolfe
Resource economists have three functions in dealing with natural resource management issues, analysing the reasons why environmental problems occur, evaluating whether it is worthwhile to address the problems, and designing mechanisms to help solve these problems. These steps have been applied to the issue of vegetation management in the Desert Uplands bioregion, an area approximately the size of Tasmania in central-western Queensland.
