ROTHWELL, HERBERT BRUCE (1923-1984) was for two periods a controversial editor of the national daily newspapers, The Australian and the Sunday Australian. A loyal News Limited executive, Bruce Rothwell was a demanding editor who operated at an international level over a long period. Rothwell was respected for his impressive knowledge of international affairs, and for the ready access he enjoyed to major international figures.
