Recognising young people as ‘real' workers and the employment implications of framing young workers as deficient

This chapter explores how deficit discourses shape employer assessments of young workers’ capacity to be a ‘good’ worker and the potential impacts of this on the formative work experience and nascent occupational identity of young workers.
