Pain is an unpleasant and highly personal experience that may be imperceptible to others while consuming all parts of the person's life. the widely agreed upon definition of pain is 'an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage, or described in terms of such damage' (International Association for the Study of Pain ¹, p. e6).
