In order to inform learners and stakeholders about the learner's progress, it is first necessary for the learning manager to make judgements about the learner's performance. This is a complex process that requires the learning manager to employ the criteria and standards in the service of both learning and judgement. The learning manager is also involved in moderation and reporting processes, often dictated by system and school requirements. In this chapter the Ascertainment Phase of the Learning Design Process is further examined through a focus on reporting learner performance.
