Previous texts on learning management have introduced the student of learning management to the ‘8 learning management questions’ through a process known as Learning Design. The premise of learning design holds that, as a schematic organiser, it enables the learning management practitioner to identify and arrange the ‘ingredients’ required for successful learning programming into a plan of action. This chapter expands this Learning Design Process by introducing the concept of Learning Diagnostics. Learning Diagnostics fundamentally comprises a strategy to identify learning ‘barriers’ and develop commensurate plans (inclusive of effective teaching strategies) and is conceptualised as Learning Management Question 9.
