Education is amongst the fastest growing industries in most parts of the world and the use of e-learning tools is a central and dynamic force behind that growth. E-learning tools offer educational institutions the power to expand beyond traditional classrooms to a more global platform. The evolution of synchronous and asynchronous e-learning tools has broadened the scope of teaching and learning activities. The purpose of this chapter is to explore the pros and cons of some contemporary e-learning tools and elucidate the impact they have on pedagogy. E-learning tools promise to create a pedagogically rich learning environment allowing students and educators to interact on a global platform.
