Consensus or complacency? : education, training and regional journalism

chapter
posted on 2017-12-06, 00:00 authored by R Manning, Denis CryleDenis Cryle
"This chapter, building on the contributions of Kelly, Lumby and other writers to this collection, reviews the consensus which has emerged in recent years on the need for tertiary education in journalism, focussing on the regional media and concern over declining standards. It will argue that the pervasiveness of infotainment and a 'point and click' culture, as identified by Kelly in this collection, are less critical than a lack of ongoing training and 'education for life'."
