Public health is an innanely political process. There is a clear relationship between disease and the way that society is structured. Social determinants define health outcomes for all groups of people. Disparities in health for Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians are evidenced by research that shows that the life expectancy for an Indigenous Australian can be up to 17 years less than that of a non-Indigenous Australian.
