"The Women in Research group of Central Queensland University (CQU) Bundaberg was established in 2000 to provide a locally-based support network for women academic staff, general staff and postgraduate students undertaking research at the Bundaberg campus. ... In an effort to provide women with a forum to present their work, and to benefit from the peer review process, it was decided to hold a conference on the Bundaberg campus. This conference was held on February 9, 2001, and was attended by over 70 delegates from a number of CQU campuses as well as the general community."--Foreword.
