Redressing the balance: An economic and social analysis of Dress for Success Sydney’s employment interventions
book
posted on 2020-03-27, 00:00 authored by Olav MuurlinkOlav Muurlink, Stephen IlesStephen Iles, K Allan, Stephanie MachtStephanie MachtThis monograph offers a mixed-methods analysis of an unusual employment intervention by a global non-profit, Dress for Success. It focuses on DFS Sydney, which provides professional clothing, clothing advice, and employment assistance to at-risk women, including the long-term unemployed, refugees, domestic violence victims, and those recently released from incarceration. The analysis shows that while clothing maybe regarded as a 'superficial' intervention, the intervention has profound and durable impacts on the women. The report offers both a 'return on investment', economic impact insight, and also an analysis from a therapeutic perspective.
