Compendium of Junior Shop A assignments

book
posted on 2025-06-09, 06:05 authored by R Kennedy, Roberta HarreveldRoberta Harreveld

The development of this book is as a result of the Junior Shop A in-service course
which took place at Glenmore State High School during December 2000. As part of
the assessment for the course, students were expected to develop a job suitable for a
Year 8 student and also a job suitable for either a Year 9 or a Year 10 student. These
assessment tasks were to include a rationale for the job, objectives, detailed working
drawing(s) of the artifact together with a detailed procedure list and evaluation.

The following pages consist of the students' work as was presented to the course
facilitators and may well contain errors and as a consequence, names have been
removed (in order to prevent possible embarrassment or to protect the guilty!?).

One of the problems in teaching Industrial Technology and Design Education is the
difficulty in developing new and interesting projects for students. This book contains
many new ideas developed by fresh minds and as such promises to be a valuable
resource for students and experienced teachers alike.

Thanks must go to all the students who participated in this exercise for their efforts
and willingness to have their work published. Thanks must also go to the Faculty of
Education and Creative Arts and Glenmore State High School for their help in this
venture.
