A good brew: the history of H.A. Bennett & Sons and tea and coffee in Australia

book
posted on 2017-12-06, 00:00 authored by Jillian Adams, K Sheedy
A Good Brew tells the story of three generations of tea and coffee trading family business H.A. Bennett and Sons. Through this business history it also tells the story of how the Australian preference for tea became a preference for coffee in the immediate post war years and how the tea industry battled to stay viable in the turning tide. It challenges the popular belief that post war migration from Europe was the primary reason for the demise of tea and looks at the impact of American servicemen during WWII and the introduction of Nestle Instant coffee as major contributing factors.
